Charles James DeFend

	Charles James 'C.J.' DeFend, age 18, of Pinckneyville, died at 9:25 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2003 at his residence.
	C.J. was born April 11, 1985 in Pinckneyville, the son of Gregory C. and Pamela R. DeFend.  C.J. lived the first 14 years of his life in Nashville and had lived in Pinckneyville for the past five years.  C.J. attended the First Christian Church in Pinckneyville and was a student at the Tri-County Special Education School in Murphysboro.
	Survivors include his father, Gregory C. DeFend of Nashville; mother, Pamela R. Jones and husband Kevin of Pinckneyville; one sister, Crystal R. DeFend of Pinckneyville; grandparents, Charles and JoAnn DeFend of Nashville, Carl and Barb Giacomo of Pinckneyville and Mary Faulkner, also of Pinckneyville; one step-brother, Bud Jones of Murphysboro and one step-sister, Patricia Sherman and husband Chad and their children of Oraville.
	Funeral services were held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Thursday, November 20 at 10 a.m. with Brother Jim Walizer officiating.  Interment was in the St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Wednesday from 6 until 9 p.m. and then again on Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
	Memorials may be made to the Tri-County Special Education School of Murphysboro.
